Partners Rick Waible and Jeff Low started Taurus Homes in 1999, both coming to the venture with different experience. Rick learned to appreciate the building industry’s 12-16 hour days upon leaving the Army in 1988, at which time he worked his way up from minimum wage laboring, and Jeff learned some points of the luxury home business from his father who built in the Street of Dreams in the 80’s.

Over the years Taurus Homes has taken on quite a mix of development approaches. Our humble beginnings were really quite simple, to build quality homes that were affordable to first-time buyers. Soon townhomes, duplexes and subdivisions had been built. We still build a great quality home that is affordable and of lasting value. The same intristic qualities that form our executive estates are found in homes at a fraction of the cost. And did we mention that Taurus is flexible?

At Taurus Homes, we remain dedicated to the goal of being considered great homebuilders - not just by our peers, but by our customers. Taurus Homes develops communities and builds homes all over the state,
from central Oregon to coastal towns such as Newport. Traditionally, the land we develop is infill, and therefore harder to plan. As a result, most of our homes are custom drawn to fit the sites, giving our clients more control over their choices. We remain consistently focused on fulfilling the
homeowner’s needs and desires, rather than on production and cycle time.

Taurus has constantly grown. We opened our own drywall division as Walpro Inc. About the same time we created our sister company, Taurus Development LLC. in an effort to pursue land development. These have been great ventures and have helped to build us up into a cohesive whole.

For the second half of the decade our focus is to fine tune our efforts. The staff at Taurus are real, down to Earth people. We have our own families and dreams. In 2005 we opened Taurus Park, a unique commercial property. Our offices have been moved to the new building on West Union Road in North Plains.
